Ban on Sale of New Petrol and Diesel Cars brought forward to 2035

New plans due to be announced today will bring the inital ban on sales of new Petrol and Diesel vehicles forward to 2035 from 2040. The Prime Minister will reveal plans to end the sale of petrol, diesel and Hybrid Vehicles – 5 years earlier than planned.

There are also plans to bring the ban forward to as early as 2030, this comes after the Tory Government was slammed for acting too slowly over its polluting vehicles ban.

What does this mean?

These announcements come as part of a pledge to make the UK “Net Zero” by 2050. If this plan is carried through, the sale of New Diesel, Petrol and Hybrid vehicles will be banned by 2035 (possibly earlier).
